The 6th grade science classes would like to introduce you to "Bob" the jack-o-lantern. Bob will help teach students about the life cycle of a pumpkin, specifically focusing on the processes of decomposition and regrowth. It serves as a hands-on science experiment to observe biodegradation, the role of microorganisms, and how organic matter enriches soil. The unit was introduced by reading the book Pumpkin Jack by Will Hubbell. If all goes well, we hope to be able to plant pumpkin seedlings in our school gardens next year! We paused just a bit on our rocks, minerals and rock cycle unit so that we could start this experiment and discuss ways to put our leftover Halloween pumpkins to good use!

JVS Newsletter - Have a great weekend!

The Jefferson PTA is looking to have more members to join our group.  It is important to join the PTA to help us support our students and staff either financially or with small tasks.  A PTA membership form and $5 ($4.75 goes to the state PTA so membership is not a means of fundraising) is all it takes to be able to have a voice in how we spend our money and what activities we do throughout the year.
The PTA participates in and does the following activities:

School Store Fundraiser - last year this brought in approximately $5000 in gift cards to directly support our teachers plus other funds for our PTA account.
Meadow Farms- this is a catalog and online sale that has brought in roughly $2000 a year in the past.
Book Fair - The PTA looks for volunteers and the funds go directly back to the classroom in purchased items.
Jefferson Jubilee - This event in the spring brings the community in and raises approximately $4000
We then use our funds through the year to support things such as:

Gaga ball pit
New laminator
Teacher appreciation week
Bus driver appreciation
Ice cream to celebrate testing
Playground toys
Back to school open house
Classroom field trips
Classroom needs that teachers bring forward
3D printers
Materials for Winter Palooza

Please do your part and join the PTA so we have more voices over how our funds are spent to support our students and staff.

The attached Google Form is asking for your feedback on how it would be best to attend a meeting to help show your support.  Please take a moment to fill it out so we can adjust our meetings to help meet the availability of more members.
