The Jefferson Village School middle school girls basketball team took part in a special event celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) at Husson University on Wednesday, February 5th. The young athletes from Jefferson Village School had the exciting opportunity to interact with collegiate student-athletes, collect autographs, and learn more about the impact of women in sports.

Following the game, Husson’s women’s basketball players engaged with attendees in another meet-and-greet session in the Hall of Fame Room. This provided another valuable moment for young athletes to connect with role models and further inspire their passion for sports.

NGWSD, established in 1987, is a nationwide celebration recognizing the achievements of female athletes and advocating for equality in sports. This event at Husson University continues the tradition by inspiring the next generation of young female athletes, including those from Jefferson Village School.

Jefferson girls Coach Candy Hilton expressed enthusiasm about the event, saying, “these young ladies attending and meeting the Husson college women athletes were given inspiration to excel in all areas, not just sports.
